About Us
How it Happened…
Fiona and Caela met in 2009, in Abadiana, a small dusty village in the centre of Brazil, where John of God, known as “The Miracle Man” resides. We were amongst the thousands of people (including Oprah) who visit each month. We got talking about our passion to keep the spirit of children alive as they grow older and how important this is to help them maintain good physical and mental health into adulthood.
Then started writing the cards and book. We met one year later, in Brazil, to edit. We spent another year writing. Then over the last two years we have focused on design, market research, piloting and self publishing.
After a few years of experimenting, we decided to bring in a partner to distribute the cards and make sure the mission of helping children was continued. We found Ken Horkavy and his company Growing a Smile LLC who is the official representative for Wonder Kids Cards.
Our Ethics
We are committed to living and working ethically. We donate packs to disadvantaged kids and not for profit organizations which can benefit from them.
**We have just donated 20 packs to Auroras Voice to assist with their Volunteer for your Future program.

About the Illustrator – Crystal Bacchus
Crystal has a degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Miami. She combines her graphic design talent with her fine art to produce beautiful and uniques pieces. At her studio, Xtal Art STudio Inc., she develops her signature collection, “Madame Fabrique” and other watercolour fine art. She also produces handmade greetings cards under the brand name Divine Pencil by Xtal Art and a T-shirt line called HipChristianChic. Caela Farren
Caela has had an extremely successful and varied career. An educator with over 50 years experience ranging from her time as a nun introducing a religious education programme to families to post doctoral lecturing. She is the founder of MasteryWorks, Inc. (www.masteryworks.com), an organization specializing in career development and is widely known and respected as an author, designer and organisational development consultant. Her products and services are used in hundreds of organisations worldwide. She has an integrated approach to her own spiritual and human development, merging theories from quantum physics, psychology, energy healing, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity. She lives in Florida and has raised 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren who are the inspiration for this work. Her dedication to bringing spirituality into the lives of parents and children continues.
Fiona Blackie
Fiona’s desire to understand different cultures has led her to visit over 60 countries and live in several of them, for periods of time. She possesses a bachelors and masters degree in law. After university she spent many years working as a successful senior management consultant for Ernst & Young and CapGemini Ernst & Young leading complex strategy and transformation programmes for large corporate organizations. More recently she qualified as an energetic cellular healer and has decades of experience in a variety of personal growth and self-healing modalities including mindfulness meditation and NLP. Ken Horkavy
Ken Horkavy is a life long entrepreneur with a driving force to help people grow and find joy in their lives. He founded Growing a Smile LLC to provide training and support for children and teachers that wanted to learn about growing food and sustainability. The company has grown to include licensing products that “grow a smile’. Wonder Kids Cards are proudly offered by Growing a Smile LLC on Amazon, and several other locations.
